Get Strong and Get Fit with Shiv have become a key part of my lifestyle. Shiv is really supportive and gives clear instruction and demonstrations to the groups. She’s always available to give more in depth information and to help support you with personal goals and any fitness issues and questions.
Being part of the Get Strong sessions in particular has introduced me to some amazing people and there’s nothing like being cheered on when trying new things and pushing for personal goals! I have a whole new mindset when it comes to what my mind and body can achieve since starting the sessions at the start of 2020.
I can’t recommend Shiv enough as a coach and trainer - she’s a truly inspirational woman, and I can’t wait to keep training with her and the rest of the Get Strong and Get Fit crew!

Siobhan is a great coach who never fails to be cheerful and friendly, even when she’s battered and bruised from competing! I particularly like Siobhan’s down to earth and straightforward training style. She never feels the need to show off or put on a ‘PT persona’, and instead just focusses on helping you to nail the right technique for every lift and exercise.
Her sessions are controlled and focussed, whilst still leaving room for a laugh and a bit of a chat. Siobhan also has an encyclopedic knowledge of exercises which she tailors to you or uses to make classes varied and interesting every time. Her knowledge of correct form and technique, and her ability to gently nudge you towards it, is consistently excellent.

It is no understatement to say that Siobhan has changed my approach to fitness I have held for over 45 years. Up until two years ago I had been a 'one trick pony' where all I did was run and it wasn't until I received personal training from Siobhan that she not only quickly identified many areas of weakness and by devising a program using her extensive understanding of physiology, I was able to build strength and mobility.
She would even take time out of her busy schedule to spend 5 minutes refining some of the exercises I was doing. As she says 'you are never too old or unfit to start using a gym' so for anyone looking to change their lifestyle I would recommend Siobhan to help you on that journey.

'I first met Shiv as I booked some PT sessions with her when I was in the early stages of recovering from a broken elbow caused in a mountain biking accident. I was impressed by Shiv's level of expertise - she listened carefully to the details of my injury, did a thorough assessment and devised a plan for recovery, throughout this she enquired about whether the exercises were too much or in any way painful and encouraged me to 'check in' myself. Within a number of weeks I went from barely being able to hold a 1kg weight to being stronger than I have ever been. Prior to meeting Shiv, I had always done cardio but avoided gyms that seemed very male dominated (particularly the grunting areas!) but she showed me how to lift weights and I realised I loved it. I decided to book on to the Get Strong with Shiv programme and before long I was deadlifting double my body weight, doing pull ups etc. I have also recently done some Get Fit with Shiv sessions which have been fun, motivating and challenging - trust me they're good, I wouldn't go to a 7.15am gym class with anyone else.
I was never good at PE at school, I am tiny and when I was younger I battled for years with a condition which meant I had to use a wheelchair - so all of this combined meant I didn't feel too confident about group exercise, particularly as I was new to lifting weights. I had nothing to worry about - all the women are supportive and friendly and everyone is at different levels - Shiv makes sure she creates an encouraging atmosphere and carefully watches everyone's technique to ensure they avoid injury. If you are looking for a personal trainer with drive, passion, exceptional knowledge and skills and a good sense of humour - look no further! Every time I have a session with Shiv, I leave feeling more positive and cheerful - that is ultimately why I think she does what she does, because she cares about people and her craft.

I have been working with Siobhan as a personal trainer for approximately 4 years. In that time my personal fitness, and my awareness of safe and effective exercise, has been transformed. When I started working with Siobhan, I was suffering from weak shoulders and wrists due to an ongoing RSI related issue. Siobhan demonstrated her comprehensive understanding of physiology and her ability to understand and work with a physio's advice. She was able to design a training plan that over a period of time has resulted in a transformation of my strength and fitness. I am now able to undertake exercises that I never thought would be possible (such as pull ups and press ups).
Siobhan has excellent interpersonal skills; I have observed her working with all types of different clients and she manages to inspire and motivate each one. Her class teaching skills are also excellent. As an experienced educator myself (from Teacher Education originally), I recognise her considerable ability to provide differentiated learning to groups when instructing, whilst ensuring everyone is exercising safely. She always provides appropriate challenge for more able participants, whilst encouraging and motivating those who may just be starting out.
Siobhan is warm, friendly and a consummate professional in all she undertakes. GSWS is a 90-minute strength training program for like-minded ladies who want to get stronger, improve lifting technique, reduce risk of injury and improve their confidence lifting weights. The sessions cater for all abilities from complete beginner to more advanced lifters. The sessions involve an effective warm up, the big three compound lifts squat, bench, deadlift with a variety of accessory lifts to improve core strength, stability, body awareness and muscle definition. We then complete an appropriate cool down after the session has finished.

GFWS is a 45 minute fitness class focusing on strength, muscular endurance and fitness conditioning based around circuit training and HIIT (high intensity interval training) methods. There will be lots of fun equipment used such as battle ropes, sleds, slam balls, hurdles and plyo boxes. You are guaranteed to get sweaty and burn lots of calories in the most fun and effective way possible.
